I have held senior veterinary, curatorial and scientific positions in zoos. I have been responsible for collection planning, exhibit design, master planning and facility development. I have experience of working with a wide range of species. I have particular interest in the influence of enclosure design, husbandry and nutrition on health and welfare.
I can provide a range of collection management services. These include developing collection plans in accordance with regional collection planning guidelines, providing masterplanning input and new exhibit design. I specialise in development of animal management/husbandry guidelines and providing expert advice on animal care.
I have experience of managing successful application processes for joining the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria and can undertake this process for your collection.
Enclosure Design and Zoo Developments
I have wide experience of enclosure design ranging from a single exhibit to whole site master planning. I can provide technical details and requirements working closely with your chosen architects to build world class facilities. Projects include enclosures for meerkats, otters, mara and wallabies at Hobbledown and the new giant tortoise, owl aviaries and lemur walkthrough exhibits at Twycross Zoo.
I have completed the whole design of the site for Fife Zoo and am working with them to develop their master plan.
In 2018 I have been working with Royal Zoological Society of Scotland on three major developments for their events and display animals and two charismatic species which will be revealed later in the year.
